Princeville Wine Market is a retail wine store that services the North Shore of Kauai with fine wine, cigars, specialty liquors, and craft beers. We also carry a nice selection of artisan cheese, chocolate, and other specialty food items.
We are a small store, but we are packed with lots of gems. Our strategy is to carry a little something from all the major wine growing regions in a variety of price points. We have an emphasis on small production wines, but we also carry some familiar brands. In each category of wine we try to have options under $2o, mid-range, and in the high end. Whatever the budget you have in mind, we should have something interesting for you. Because we are a smaller store, it is always interesting how we go about striking the balance between the known and the obscure. We like to blow the minds of hipster sommeliers now and again, but still be an approachable venue for the general public. Even us hipster sommeliers need a variety of wines in different price points with varying degrees of brand recognition for different occasions.
We have also upped our game in the craft beer category. We have always carried the popular Hawaiian beers, but we have a nice rotating collection of seasonal beers from the mainland as well as more traditional European beers. We have your basic liquor needs covered and then we have the some things that you may not expect such as grappa, mezcal, and amaros. We have a nice assortment of super premium sake to go along with your seafood dinners.
We carry a fun selection of Hawaiian cheese as well as farmstead cheeses from the mainland and Europe. We also have a rotating selection of meats, chocolate, olives, jams, and other gourmet items to compliment a nice bottle of wine.
Mission Statement: Princeville Wine Market aims to improve wine culture on Kauai through a thoughtful selection of products and excellent service.
Princeville Wine Market opened in December of 2010. Daniel Braun first opened a wine store in Kapaa called Da Kine Wine when moving back to Kauai in 2009. The location at Princeville Center opened up at an opportune time. Our lease was ending at Da Kine Wine and it was decided to change locations and also pick a name this time that the tourists could understand a little better. Daniel became a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2006. Daniel’s passion for wine began working in restaurants and hotels. He worked his way up into management with Hyatt on the mainland gaining experience with wine and fine dining, working in acclaimed restaurants such as Armani’s at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. Daniel missed Hawaii and was very happy when he had the opportunity to work for the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. While there, he helped open DUO, a steak and seafood restaurant, as well as run the beverage program for the resort. He is very happy to be back on Kauai having partially grown up on the Garden Island, attending Island School and graduating from Kauai High School.
We have employees who are passionate about wine and they are capable of helping most customers. If you feel that your needs require Daniel’s attention please do not hesitate to contact him by phone or e-mail.
