  • Albert Bichot, Domaine du Clos Frantin, Vosne-Romanee, Les Malconsorts 1er Cru 2012

    $195.00 $165.00

“Happily here there is no reduction present on the ultra-spicy and floral nose where soft wood frames the ripe aromas of various dark berries and plum scents. There is excellent concentration to the robust and overtly muscular medium weight plus flavors that brim with dry extract on the structured and very firm but not hard finish that displays outstanding length on the mineral-driven backend. This robust effort is borderline strict at present and will require plenty of age to soften the tannins. Patience required.”-93BH

  • Bonneau du Martray, Corton-Charlemagne, Grand Cru 2011

    $199.00

“There is a hint of mandarin orange to the otherwise more classic aromas of white peach, green apple, citrus and wet stone. The well-detailed and intensely stony medium weight plus flavors possess an excellent sense of underlying tension on the saline-infused, dry and well-balanced finish. I like the mid-palate concentration and while this is already delicious, this is sufficiently serious as to require 6 to 8 years of cellar time.”-92BH

  • Bouchard Pere & Fils, Pommard 2010

    $68.00

Tasting note: A fresh and moderately rustic nose of red and dark berry fruit aromas is replete with various warm earth nuances that also suffuse the supple and almost surprisingly round flavors that are easy to like yet solidly complex. The mildly austere finale is well balanced and persistent and I suspect that this will in all likelihood tighten up significantly as the underlying structure is deceptively agreeable at present. A lovely villages that should drink well after 6 to 8 years of bottle age. -BH

  • Bouchard Pere & Fils, Pommard, 1er Cru 2011

    $95.00

A lean, elegant style, exhibiting cherry, earth and light herbal notes on a taut frame. Shows ample fruit, but the finish is still a little tight. -WS

  • Domaine de L’Arlot, Nuits St Georges 1er Cru, “Clos des Forets” 2012

    $145.00

“The 2012 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forets Saint Georges comes from vertically planted vines that are perpendicular to the RN74. Different geological expressions up the slope are blended into three different cuvees, which are then assembled prior to bottling. It has an attractive nose of wild strawberry and mulberry fruit intermixed with forest floor scents: well-defined with subtle use of both oak and whole bunches. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-like freshness on the entry. This is full of energy and vitality, the acidity well-judged with admirable weight and presence on the masculine finish that suggests this will age very well. Superb.”-(92-94)WA
